DOMINICAN REPUBLIC: And they are off!

The official campaigning period ahead of the Dominican Republic (DR)’s 15 May general elections began on 2 February. A presidential victory for the ruling Partido de la Liberación Dominican (PLD) would seem a foregone conclusion, with President Danilo Medina looking like a shoo-in to win re-election. However, the concurrent national legislative and municipal elections will likely provide the debutant opposition Partido Revolucionario Moderno (PRM) with the chance to make an impression.
