President Barack Obama has asked the US Congress to set aside US$450m in its 2017 budget to fund ‘Peace Colombia’, a new aid programme that is to replace the 15-year old ‘Plan Colombia’. It will fund security, social, and economic development programmes in Colombia following the sealing of a peace deal between the Colombian government and the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (Farc) leftist guerrillas.
