WB report shows inequality persists for indigenous in the Andean

In February, the World Bank (WB) published a report entitled Indigenous Latin America in the Twenty-First Century, outlining the state of indigenous peoples during the first decade of the millennium. The WB report highlights that the 2000s were one of the most successful decades in Latin America for overall economic development and poverty reduction. Consistent GDP per capita growth and a reduction in inequality (the Gini coefficient dropped from 0.57 in 2000 to 0.52 in 2012) allowed 70m people in Latin America to escape poverty.
