URUGUAY: Murder of Jewish man raises alarm
The murder of a Jewish community leader in the city of Paysandú by a local Islam convert has raised concern about the potential influence that radical extremist Islamist groups may be having on the local population and the threat that this may pose for Uruguay and its neighbours. The government has been seeking to allay these concerns by insisting that this was an isolated incident carried out by an individual with no connection to outside militant terrorist groups. But this view is not shared by the likes of the Israeli government.
