Fresh budget cuts for 2017

Having already sliced an additional M$123bn (US$7.6bn) off the 2016 ‘austerity budget’ in mid-February, Mexico’s finance ministry (SHCP) has now announced a pre-emptive reduction of almost M$175bn (US$10bn) in planned outlays for 2017, as part of continuing federal government efforts to meet fiscal deficit targets.
