Pedro Pablo Kuczynski is hoping to be elected Peru’s next president in the 5 June run-off on the strength of opposition to his rival Keiko Fujimori, of the right-wing Fuerza Popular (FP). However, assuming that he does secure victory, Kuczynski will face governability problems, as the FP will have a firm grip both on the unicameral congress and in a majority of regions, having swept vast swathes of the country in the 10 April general election.
