PERU: Peru bucks the regional trend

According to Peru’s economy and finance minister, Alonso Segura, the economy will post real annual GDP growth of 4% this year, rising to 4.5% in 2017. Segura’s confidence is shared by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which in its Spring World Economic Outlook lifted its Peru forecasts for this year and next, even as it cut most others. Peru now is one of the few bright spots in a region now expected to contract for a second consecutive year in 2016.
