Data security woes in Mexico

On 14 April a security researcher stumbled across a massive glut of Mexico’s electoral data that had been made publicly accessible online. The names, addresses, dates of birth, and voter ID numbers of 81 million Mexican voters were listed in the cache. Although the database has now been taken down from the Amazon cloud servers where it was discovered, it is not yet clear how long it was available, and it will probably never be known who has gained access to it while it was.
