Public security is emerging as one of the principal areas of debate between Keiko Fujimori and Pedro Pablo Kuczynski, the top two candidates in the first round of presidential elections on 10 April who will contest a run-off on 5 June. In part this is because there is not a huge amount separating the two candidates who, unlike the left-wing contender Verónika Mendoza who nearly pipped Kuczynski to second place, are on the same page when it comes to the economy.
