Growth: On 5 May, Chile’s central bank (BCCh) released figures showing that its monthly economic activity index (Imacec), which incorporates around 91% of the goods and services included in the country’s GDP measure, increased by 2.1% in March 2016 compared to March 2015, bringing the twelve-month rate to 2.3%. The most recent (April 2016) growth projections by the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (Eclac) forecast 1.6% growth for Chile this year, significantly above the average 1.9% growth contraction forecast for South America.
