BOLIVIA: Morales faces unrest from various fronts

President Evo Morales and his Movimiento al Socialismo (MAS) government this month averted one traditional source of unrest – annual negotiations with the umbrella trade union Central Obrera Boliviana (COB) over salary increases. However the government’s decision to close state-owned textiles company Empresa Pública Nacional Estratégica de Textiles (Enatex), together with demands from other sectors, is causing the MAS administration fresh difficulties.
