Peña Nieto makes alternative human rights gesture

The federal government led by President Enrique Peña Nieto is making a concerted effort to try to improve Mexico’s image on the human rights front. It is acutely aware of the damage to the country’s reputation caused by recent notorious crimes, such as the abduction and presumed murder of 43 trainee teachers from Iguala, Guerrero, in September 2014.
