Jacobson arrives to boost ties – and expedite El Chapo’s extradition?

The new US ambassador to Mexico, Roberta Jacobson, arrived in Mexico City to take up her post on 26 May. In doing so, Jacobson has breathed new life into US-Mexico relations not just by filling a post that has been vacant for 10 months but by announcing her intention for the US to become a “truly committed neighbour” to Mexico. Yet, in the short-term, her main priority appears to be to secure and expedite the extradition of drug kingpin Joaquín ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán Loera to the US.
