On 20 May Susanna Malcorra, Argentina’s foreign minister, was formally nominated by President Mauricio Macri as a candidate to become the next United Nations (UN) Secretary General. Malcorra served as chef de cabinet to the incumbent UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, before assuming her present position last December.
