Ahead of a critical vote on whether to invoke the region’s main democratic charter against Venezuela, the government led by President Nicolás Maduro was in full diplomatic mode. Maduro on 22 June held a two-hour meeting with the Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs at the US State Department, Thomas Shannon.
