IMF sees tentative positive signs in Brazil

In its 19 July update of its World Economic Outlook (WEO), the International Monetary Fund (IMF) revised slightly upwards its forecasts for Brazil, citing “some tentative signs of moderation in Brazil’s deep [economic] downturn”.  The IMF now expects the 2016 contraction to be “slightly less severe”, with a return to positive growth in 2017.
