On 29 July 2016, the United Nations (UN) published its annual Electronic Government (E-Government) survey on which Southern Cone countries scored highest in the Latin America and the Caribbean region on the E-Government Development Index (EGDI). Topping the regional rankings was Uruguay (ranked 34th in the world), followed by Argentina (ranked 41st), and Chile (ranked 43rd). The report also suggested major advances in E-Government in Paraguay, which leapt 27 places up the world rankings in two years, from 122nd in 2014 to 95th in 2016.
