REGION: Minority lives matter

The Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement began in the United States in 2013 in protest at the disproportionately high number of young black men being shot dead in encounters with police, and over the wider issues of unequal treatment in the criminal justice system and society at large. BLM raises the question of whether race and ethnic background play a similar role in policing and crime across Latin America and the Caribbean.
