Joining the OECD. Peru’s new deputy economy minister, Claudia Cooper, says that the government led by President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski will seek to implement all of the recent recommendations made by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) aimed at helping improve the country’s internal regulations and energise its economic growth. The OECD’s recommendations are based on best international practices in regulatory policy, which are expected to help combat corruption. The Kuczynski administration’s commitment to implementing these recommendations will reaffirm Peru’s stated aim of joining the OECD by 2021, joining its fellow Pacific Alliance members Mexico and Chile, with Colombia expected to complete its OECD incorporation process by next year.
