Brazil: Rio Olympics: Light and shade on the security front

In security terms the legacy of the Rio de Janeiro Olympic and Paralympic Games is mixed. The feared terrorist attacks did not materialise and, bearing in mind a long list of other potential problems, (from the Zika epidemic to political protests) the international press seems to have concluded that things went off rather better than expected. Rio’s security audit still gives cause for concern, and the city continues to confront serious challenges.
