COSTA RICA | ‘Unprecedented’ security deal with the US. On 22 August Costa Rica’s President Luis Guillermo Solís met US President Barack Obama and inked bilateral agreements on cooperation in the fight against organised crime, migration, and citizen security. The agreements – which include US donations of US$45m-US$55m in equipment to help combat drug trafficking in Costa Rica – were trumpeted by President Solís as unprecedented.
