COSTA RICA: Everything not entirely normal

Costa Rica’s President Luis Guillermo Solís strode out of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York on 20 September just before Brazil’s President Michel Temer’s speech. The political opposition back home in Costa Rica pounced on the incident to haul the foreign minister, Manuel González, before the legislative assembly. González performed contortions to avoid providing an explanation for what constituted a deliberate snub, insisting that everything was normal.
