On 18 October, after the US Supreme Court dismissed his remaining appeals, Mexican-Chinese citizen Zhenli Ye Gon was sent south – extradited from the US, where he has spent most of the last decade in prison, to Mexico, where he faces additional drug trafficking charges. It is possible that another big-name alleged drug trafficker, Joaquín ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán Loera, leader of the Sinaloa drug trafficking organisation (DTO), will soon be heading north, from a Mexican to a US prison.
