Lenín Moreno, a former vice president (2007-2013), will seek election for the ruling Alianza País (AP) in general elections on 19 February next year. The incumbent vice-president, Jorge Glas, will run alongside him. Moreno and Glas were selected to stand on a joint slate during an AP party convention in Quito.
