Zapatistas embrace electoral politics?

More than two decades after the insurgent Ejército Zapatista de Liberación Nacional (EZLN) rose up in rebellion against the Mexican state, it has apparently finally concluded that the time has come to participate in national politics and compete in elections for the first time. The EZLN has agreed to present an independent candidate for the presidency in the 2018 general elections, together with the Congreso Nacional Indígena (CNI) indigenous organisation.
