Electorate loses faith in left-wing politics

The iconic red and white star of Brazil’s leftist Partido dos Trabalhadores (PT) appears to be fading. Right-wing candidates outshone their more liberal counterparts in this year’s municipal elections, the second round of which took place on 30 October, with the PT losing more than half of the cities it once governed.
