MEXICO: Beijing endorses López Obrador’s position on steel tariffs
China and Mexico are “good friends and good partners” a Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson said on 27 March, commending earlier comments made by Mexico’s President Andrés Manuel López Obrador who indicated that his country did not want a trade war with China.

ARGENTINA: Confusion over public sector job losses
On 26 March Argentina’s presidential spokesman Manuel Adorni said that the government would lay off 15,000 employees on short term contracts at the end of this month, not the 70,000 initially announced by President Javier Milei.
