In brief: Mexico’s inflation slows in November

*Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has released the consumer price index (INPC) for November, showing a monthly inflation rate of 0.44% down from 0.55% in October. This brings the annual headline inflation to 4.55%, the lowest since March (4.42%), due to a deceleration in both core and non-core inflation. The core inflation index, which is closely watched by the central bank (Banxico) and excludes volatile items such as food and fuel, registered a modest monthly increase of 0.05%, resulting in a year-on-year rate of 3.58% for November, down from 3.80% in October. The non-core inflation index recorded a monthly increase of 1.73% and an annual increase of 7.60%.
