*The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) has reported contributions to the national treasury of US$2.47bn for fiscal year 2024 (October 2023-September 2024), contributions which it says come from surplus funds, tolls per transit tonnes, and payments for services provided by the state to the ACP. The FY2024 figure is however down from US$2.54bn in FY2023. In a statement, the ACP notes that during the period for FY2024 the ACP “faced a historic water crisis due to a lack of rainfall, which required the implementation of several operational measures, such as adjusting vessel draft levels and reducing the number of daily transit reservations.”
