CARIBBEAN: AIDS leading cause of death in Caribbean

A UN AIDS survey published at the end of May found that the disease was the leading cause of death among adults aged 15 - 44 in the Caribbean. In 2005 approximately 27,000 people died of AIDS, while another 30,000 became infected. A total of 300,000 people are living with AIDS in the Caribbean, making it the second-most affected region in the world after sub-Saharan Africa.
