VENEZUELA: Braced for a contraction
Venezuela is the only country in the Western Hemisphere that will
register a contraction this year, according to the International Monetary Fund
(IMF). In its latest (April 2010) World Economic Outlook, the Fund projects a
real GDP decline of 2.7% year-on-year in 2010, with only marginal growth of 0.4%
in 2011.
