GUATEMALA: Signs of weakness in the banking sector

The Superintendencia de Bancos (SIB) has produced statistics which show that three banks, of the 18 operating in the country, hold 65% of the country's bank deposits. This suggests that the banking system, which as suffered at least two major crises in the past decade, remains weak.
