Deflating the border scare

An unstoppable wave of illegal immigrants, the spillover of Mexican violence and a drug inflow impervious to containment measures. These are the features of a scare that has led to the building of a border fence and an unprecedented mobilisation of security personnel. Without actually saying that the precautions have worked, two separate studies released in April are saying that most of the features of this scare have shrunk or, at least for now, disappeared.
