In Brief, Argentina

POLITICS | VP Boudou charged with illicit enrichment. On 14 May a local prosecutor, Jorge Di Lello, formally charged Vice-President Amado Boudou with illicit enrichment as part of ongoing investigations into Boudou’s links with a local printing firm that secured the lucrative contract to print the Argentine currency. Boudou is suspected of influence peddling. Di Lello decided to press charges after Federal Judge Ariel Lijo presented him with formal accusations against Boudou, along with his girlfriend, Agustina Kampfer, and two other associates, Alejandro Vandenbroele and José María Núñez, also linked to the case. Di Lello will now also take charge of investigating the “manoeuvres that led to the vertiginous and unjustifiable increase in Boudou’s economic assets”.
