Development: On 30 April the Unión Demócrata Independiente (UDI), the senior partner in President Sebastián Piñera’s ruling Coalición por el Cambio, confirmed that its new pre-presidential candidate, former economy minister Pablo Longueira, will take part in the scheduled 30 June primaries along with the former defence minister, Andrés Allamand of Renovación Nacional (RN), the junior coalition partner.
