Development: On 17 May retired army general and leader of the opposition Voluntad Popular (VP) political party, Antonio Rivero, was released from jail after being detained on 27 April at the headquarters of the national intelligence agency (Sebin) in Caracas, on suspicion of promoting violence in the aftermath of the 14 April elections, which claimed nine lives.
