US issues Bahamas travel warning

Bahamas: On 17 May the US Embassy in The Bahamas issued a warning for US citizens living and traveling to The Bahamas regarding an increased number of armed robberies.  The security alert advises US nationals that “armed robbery remains a major threat facing US citizens in The Bahamas”, and advises them to be on heightened alert to avoid danger.  The alert came after an American sailor, Kyle Bruner, was murdered last week in Nassau. The local police said that between 1 January and 15 April there were 328 armed robberies in the country.
