Cabinet departures. On 6 June Interior Minister Andrés Chadwick announced the resignations of Social Development Minister Joaquín Lanvín and Culture minister Luciano Cruz-Coke. Both Lanvín and Cruz-Coke tendered their resignations in order to join join the campaign teams of those candidates bidding to become the ruling Coalición por el Cambio’s presidential candidate ahead of the 17 November elections. The candidate will be decided in 30 June primaries. Lanvín will join the campaign team of the former economy minister, Pablo Longueira (2011-2013), who is running in the primaries for the Unión Demócrata Independiente (UDI, the senior partner in the Coalición); while Cruz-Coke will join the campaign team of the former defence minister, Andrés Allamand (2011-2012), the presidential pre-candidate of Renovación Nacional (RN, the junior partner in the Coalición).
