Military kept out of internal security

Since the restoration of elected rule in Argentina in 1983 much emphasis has been placed on maintaining the constitutional separation of military and police roles, which effectively bans the use of the armed forces for internal security missions. Recent calls for making an exception for antidrugs operations were rejected from across the political spectrum.
