EL SALVADOR: From now on the maras are terrorists
Henceforth El Salvador’s streets gangs, known as maras, will be treated as terrorist organisations, at the initiative of the country’s prosecutor-general, with the clear blessing of the government of President Salvador Sánchez Cerén and the endorsement of the supreme court, which has been playing up reports that the two main gangs are negotiating a merger.
