Development: On 12 June Guatemala's attorney general, Thelma Aldana; the head of the United Nations-backed International Commission against Impunity in Guatemala (Cicig), Iván Velásquez; and Interior Minister Francisco Rivas announced the arrests of, respectively, former defence and interior ministers Héctor Manuel López Ambrosio (2013-2015) and Héctor Mauricio López Bonilla (2012-2015) on charges of illicit association  and money laundering. López Bonilla is also facing charges of fraud.
