NICARAGUA | Foreign cooperation down. Nicaragua’s central bank (BCN) has released its annual report on official foreign cooperation in 2016, which showed that this reached US$903.5m, down 19% on 2015. Of this, US$570m went to the public sector with the rest assigned to the private sector. Of the total US$903.5m, 69.1% or US$623.9m came from multilateral cooperation funding and the rest from bilateral sources. Compared with 2015, bilateral funds were down 45.2% while funds from multilateral institutions were up by 3%.
