Venezuela policy subjected to scrutiny

Uruguay’s foreign minister, Rodolfo Nin Novoa, was hauled before the lower chamber of congress on 10 May to face a hostile grilling from the political opposition over his handling of diplomatic relations with Venezuela. Deputy Ope Pasquet, of the right-of-centre opposition Partido Colorado (PC, Colorados), who led the questioning of Nin Novoa, accused the foreign minister of adopting an inconsistent and incongruous foreign policy stance over Venezuela which was damaging Uruguay’s credibility.
