While the demands of the protesters are varied, they seem to have the same root cause: the central government’s failure to deliver on promises of increased financial support. This has been a recurring issue for the Santos administration, but with Colombia’s economy still struggling to pick up the pace, it is difficult to see how these demands will be addressed.
