Brazil: Doria takes on Cracolândia

Nestled in the heart of São Paulo city is a bustling drugs bazar known as Cracolândia. Crack is by far the most popular product sold there, but others deal in glue, ecstasy, and other forms of cocaine. For the past two decades, successive administrations have tried and failed to shut down Cracolândia. But past defeats have not deterred São Paulo’s new mayor, João Doria from waging another war on micro-trafficking.
