Bolivia’s bicameral national legislature is in the process of approving changes to the criminal procedure code. This is one of three bills sent down to congress by the executive led by President Evo Morales at the start of the year, aimed at eradicating the notorious inefficiencies in Bolivia’s judiciary. (The others are to establish a basic law of public and municipal conciliation and to modify the law of legal practice).
