PARAGUAY: Opposition forges electoral alliance
Paraguay’s two main opposition parties have buried their differences to strike an alliance to try and defeat the ruling Asociación Nacional Republicana-Partido Colorado (ANR-PC) in presidential and congressional elections in April 2018. The big challenge for the traditional Partido Liberal Radical Auténtico (PLRA) and the left-wing Frente Guasu (FG) will be persuading voters that they offer more than a marriage of pure convenience and can thrash out a shared plan of governance with broad appeal.
