Two developments this week highlighted the separate routes being followed by former members of Colombia’s oldest guerrilla group, the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (Farc). The electoral authorities registered the newly named Fuerza Alternativa Revolucionaria del Común (which retains the same acronym) as a peaceful political party entitled to compete in next year’s presidential and congressional elections.
