In brief: El Salvador

El Salvador: The central bank (BCR) has released new figures which show the country received US$4.5bn in remittances in the first 11 months of the year, up 10.1% on the same period in 2016. In the month of November alone, remittances reached US$406m, up 8.3% on the same month in 2016. The main source of remittances is the US, which accounted for 97.2% of the total.
