* In December 2017, Brazil lost over 328,000 jobs according to data from the national employment register Cadastro Geral de Empregados e Desempregados (Caged) seen by local daily Folha de São Paulo. Net employment last year was negative, with Brazil losing 28,000 vacancies over the course of 2017. This frustrates the government’s expectation that the labour reform would open up more vacancies.
